What is the First Money Market Fund?
The First Money Market Fund is an open-ended mutual fund designed for individuals who want to invest in short term, high quality securities with high liquidity and a competitive rate of return. It is ideal for investors who want a low risk investment for their funds with easy access to their money.
How does a Money Market Fund work?
When you invest in a Money Market Fund, you are buying Units in the Fund. The Fund Managers then use those funds, along with the funds from other unitholders to invest in a diversified pool of short-term financial instruments. Earnings are then paid out to you as interest, based on the performance of those investments.
What documents do I need to open this fund?
The following documents are required:
- Two (2) forms of identification – Valid National Identification Card or Valid Passport (if non-resident investor) or Valid Drivers Permit (accompanied by Birth Certificate).
These should not have expired and should reflect your name and signature being used for your account opening.
- Proof of Address – This can be a utility bill or bank statement (no more than 3 months old). If you are not the holder of the utility bill, a coloured copy of holder’s ID and an address verification letter from the utility bill holder is required.
- Proof of Income – Either a salary slip or Job Letter or Pension documents (no more than 3 months old). If you are self-employed, a 3 year bank statement and the supporting receipts/invoices showing the inflow of income, as well as the company’s certificate of registration and 3 years’ projected financials are required.

What does the First Money Market Fund invest in?
The Fund invests in high quality short-term debt instruments with a time to maturity of up to 1 year, such as (but not limited to):
- Treasury Bills (T-Bills)
- Money Market Instruments
- Deposits with financial institutions
- Short term corporate debt
- Money Market Mutual Funds
- Other short-term debt instrument
Who manages the Fund?
The First Money Market Fund is managed by a team of experienced Fund Managers who form part of First Citizens Portfolio and Investment Management Services Limited (FCPIMS). Further details are available in the Prospectus.

Can I have a beneficiary on my Fund?
Yes, a beneficiary can be added by completing the necessary documents at account opening. However, only 2 beneficiaries can be appointed. Also, if the account is made joint, the beneficiary nomination would become void.
Can I have a joint Fund?
Yes, joint subscriptions can also be made for a maximum of three persons. Important to note: If any party to the account dies, his or her share automatically passes to the surviving party(s).
Are there any associated fees in investing, holding or redeeming Units in the Fund?
There are no maintenance fees for investing or redeeming Units in the Fund.

How do I start investing in the First Money Market Fund?
Visit any First Citizens Investment Services Limited office (Gulf City Mall, Gulf View La Romaine or Wainwright Street, Port of Spain) or any branch of First Citizens Bank Limited with the required documents.
Opening Requirements
To open the First Money Market Fund, the following documents are required:

Identification
Two (2) forms of valid identification (National Identification Card, valid Passport, or valid Driver’s Permit accompanied by Birth Certificate).

Your Proof of Address
Utility bill or bank statement no more than three months old. If the utility bill is not in your name, a coloured copy of the bill holder’s ID and an address verification letter will be required.

Proof of Income
Salary slip, job letter or pension document no more than (three months old).

For Self-Employed
For self-employed applicants, additional documents may be required, including bank statements, supporting receipts or invoices, certificate of registration and projected financials.

Investors may choose to invest in the (TTD Units, USD Units, or both).

Can I invest in both the TTD and USD units at the same time?
Yes, you can choose to invest in the Class A (TTD Units) and the Class B (USD Units) simultaneously.
What kind of returns can I expect and how often are they paid out?
Returns are earned through interest income from the Fund’s investments. These returns are paid to unitholders monthly and are re-invested automatically to the unitholders’ account. Indicative returns for June 2026 can range between (2.50% and 3.50% annual) for the TTD Fund and for the USD Fund (1.80% – 2.20% annual)
How can I track the performance of the Fund?
You can monitor the performance through monthly statements or by contacting the Fund Distributor. Performance figures are based on 1. the Net Asset value (NAV) and 2. The distribution rate. Both will be published on the First Citizens Website.
How can I make additional investments after my initial investment?
After your initial investment, you can make additional contributions at any time. The minimum amounts are TTD100.00 (Class A – TTD Units) or USD20.00 (Class B- USD Units). Subsequent contributions can be made by visiting any branch of First Citizens Bank Limited or sending a secured message via online banking to do a transfer from your First Citizens Bank account to your Fund.
How can I access the balance on my fund?
You can access your fund balance via secured message on online banking or by visiting any branch of First Citizens Bank.
Can I redeem my investment in the Fund?
Yes, the Fund is designed to offer high liquidity so you can access your money at any time by filling out the redemption form through any branch of First Citizens Bank Limited. Once the form is submitted, you will have access to your money within one (1) to three (3) business days

Is the Fund regulated?
Yes, the Fund is regulated by the Trinidad and Tobago Securities and Exchange Commission (TTSEC).
How risky is the Fund?
This fund is considered a low-risk investment and invests in high-quality short-term securities, however it is not entirely risk-free.
Can I lose value in the First Money Market Fund?
While very unlikely, it is possible. The fund’s value can drop if the underlying investments default or if there’s a sharp market disruption. The Fund however is managed to maintain stability of capital.
Is the Fund suitable for long-term investing?
The fund is best suited for short-term financial goals or emergency resources for individuals, and for treasury management for companies. For long-term growth, you can consider higher-yielding options like the Immortelle Growth & Income Fund or El Tucuche Income Fund.
What happens in the event of my demise?
In the event of your death, the person claiming the funds will need to present official documents such as an Executed Probate of Will or Letter of Probate from the High Court in order to access the funds. If the account is held jointly, the right of survivorship applies. This means the surviving account holder(s) will automatically become the sole owner(s) of the Fund. If the account has a named beneficiary, the person/persons must attain the age of eighteen (18) to receive the proceeds from the Fund.
